यही नहीं भारत के प्राचीन राजनीतिज्ञ आचार्य विष्णुशर्मा का विश्व- विख्यात ग्रन्थ पञ्चतन्त्र संसार की सभी भाषाओं में अनूदित हुआ। अमरीका में पञ्चतन्त्र का प्रकाशन भारी संख्या में हुआ। अमरीका ने अंग्रेजी में ही नहीं - संस्कृत में भी प्रकाशित किया। इसी ग्रन्थ पर एक विद्वत्तापूर्ण टिप्पणी ग्रन्थ भी अमरीका ने प्रकाशित कराया। फारसी में 'कलेला दमन' पञ्चतन्त्र का ही अनुवाद है।

 शास्त्रों में चार प्रकार के आश्रम कहे हैं, पहिला ब्रह्मचर्याश्रम १ ।। दूसरा गृहस्थाश्रम २ तीसरा वानप्रस्थाश्रम ३ और चतुर्थ सन्यास आश्रम ४ कहा है । ब्रह्मचर्याश्रम को पालन करता हुआ मनुष्य विद्याध्ययन करने के अनन्तर गृहस्थ आश्रम में प्रवेश करे। बिना आश्रम के एक क्षण भी नहीं रहना चाहिये ऐसा शास्त्रों में कहा है । "अनाश्रमी न तिष्ठेत् क्षणमेकमपि द्विजः, एक आश्रम का पालन कर दूसरे आश्रम में प्रवेश करना कहा है-'आश्रमादाश्रमंगच्छेदेष धर्मः सनातनः' । ब्रह्मचर्य आश्रम-वानप्रस्थ आश्रम और सन्यास आश्रम इन तीनों आश्रमों का आश्रय स्थान, इसी तरह देव ऋण, पितृ ऋण, और ऋषि ऋण इन तीनों ऋणों से मुक्त करने वाला तथा धर्म, अर्थ और काम की सिद्धि को देने वाला होने के कारण गृहस्थ आश्रम को प्रधान माना गया है, ऐसा कश्यप जी ने कहा है 'अथातः संप्रवक्ष्यामि गृहस्थाश्रममुत्तमम्' । य आधारोऽन्याश्रमाणां भूतानां प्राणिनां तथा । ऋणत्रयच्छेदकारी धर्म कामार्थ सिद्धिदम् । और बाकी संस्कार भी विवाह संस्कार पर ही निर्भर हैं, क्योंकि विवाहादि संस्कार होने के पश्चात् ही गर्भाधानादि समस्त संस्कार हो सकते हैं इस कारण भी विवाह संस्कार सर्व प्रधान हैं । गृहस्थ आश्रम में भी सद्गुणयुक्ता स्त्री का होना परमावश्यक है क्योंकि रत्न, स्वर्ण और अनेक प्रकार के अलंकारादि उपभोगों के होते हुए घर में यदि सद्गुण युक्ता स्त्री न हो तो वह सब व्यर्थ है उनकी कुछ शोभा नहीं होती ऐसा महर्षियों का कथन है ।

अभिवादनशीलस्य नित्यं वृद्धोपसेविनः। चत्वारि तस्य वर्धन्ते आयुर्विद्यायशोबलम्।।

जो अभिवादन है, नित्य वृद्धों की सेवा करता है, उसके चार गुण बढ़ जाते हैं; आयु, विद्या, कीर्ति और बल।

हस्तस्य भूषणं दानं, सत्यं कण्ठस्य भूषणम्। श्रोतस्य भूषणं शास्त्रं, भूषणैः किं प्रयोजनम्।।

देना, हाथ का आभूषण है। सत्य बोलना गले का श्रृंगार है। ज्ञान को सुनना कान का शोभा है। अन्य गहने, जैसे कंगन, हार, झुमके, आदि क्या उपयोग के हैं?
