यह पृथ्वी जो कभी इतनी विशाल लगती थी, अब मुझे अणुओं से बने छोटे-से गोले के रूप में दीखती है जो अतंरिक्ष में घूमता जा रहा है, जो धूप से सेंका जा रहा है, जिसकी चारों ओर विभिन्न प्रकारके वायु खेल रहे हैं - बस मिट्टी का एक गोला जिस पर जीवन अनेकानेक प्रकारों से विकसित होता है। ईश्वर का शब्द, परमात्मा की वाणी - अनंत का प्रकटीकरण- प्रत्येक वस्तु में बसा हुआ है। इस सीमित गोले पर रह रहकर होने वाली भीषण उथल-पुथल मानवीय स्वार्थ के कारण होती है; मानव की मानव के साथ तथा मानव के और सारी सृष्टि के भीतर विद्यमान परमतत्त्व के साथ अनबन के कारण। चूँकि मानव ने इस भीषण उत्पातों से कोई शिक्षा ग्रहण नहीं की, इसलिये पृथ्वी अब भी विनाशकारी झंझावात, भूकंप, बाढ़, रोग, और इन सब से भयानक, युद्ध के बादलों से आक्रांत रहती है।

इस जगत् को, प्रकृति को और जीवन को उसकी - गरीबी, रोग, युद्ध तथा अन्य सब समस्याओं सहित जीतने का एक तरीका है। हमें जीतने का यह तरीका सीखना ही होगा। नेपोलियन, चंगीज़ खान, विलियम द कॉन्करर जैसे जगज्जेताओं ने मनुष्यों और भूखंडों पर अपना स्वामित्व प्रस्थापित किया। परन्तु उनकी जीत केवल कुछ समय के लिये थी। जो जीत जीसस क्राईस्ट ने प्राप्त की वह चिरकालिक है। ऐसी चिरकालिक विजय कैसे प्राप्त करें ? इसके लिये आपको स्वयं अपने से ही शुरुआत करनी पड़ेगी।
