Shriramcharitmanas is a classical book. By reading and meditating on this holy book, one can easily get well-being. Each of its Doha, Chaupai, Sortha and Chhand is a great mantra. What is there to say in the context of Sunderkand? Although the entire Shri Ramcharitmanas is beautiful, but its Sundarkand is very beautiful. Just as Viratparva is the best part of Mahabharata, similarly Sundarkand is the best part in Shri Ramcharitmanas. Explaining the reason for its superiority, it has been said - 'Sundare Sundaro Ram: Sundare Sundari Katha'. Beautiful beautiful Sita beautiful Kinna Sundaram ॥' That is, Shri Ram is beautiful in Sunderkand, the story is beautiful, Sita is beautiful. What is not beautiful in beautiful. Apart from this, it has the holy character of Hanumanji, who is a dream tree for the devotees.
One thing is undisputed that Sundarkand's devotees perform rituals, which fulfill their every wish. Second thing, the combination of spirituality and mysticism is visible in Sundarkand's story, nature and behavior of the characters.
With the aim of acquainting the readers with the eternal features of Sunderkand, many editions of it have been published from Geetapress. In this edition, with a view to facilitate the readers to do pure recitation in the form of rituals, Shri Jankinathji's Aarti and Parayan-Vidhi have been given in the beginning, so that readers can do pure recitation with invocation, trust and meditation.
Devotees believe that the readers of Sunderkand should start with couplet number 29 of Kishkindha-kand. Therefore, couplet number 29 of Kishkindha Kanda has been given before Sundarkand. सुन्दरकाण्ड (श्रीरामचरितमानस) पुस्तक के कुछ अंश
श्रीरामचरितमानस एक प्रासादिक ग्रन्थ है । इस पवित्र ग्रन्थके पठन- पाठन और मननसे मनुष्यका सहज ही कल्याण होता है। इसका प्रत्येक दोहा, चौपाई, सोरठा तथा छन्द महामन्त्र है । सुन्दरकाण्डके संदर्भमें तो कहना ही क्या है ? यद्यपि सम्पूर्ण श्रीरामचरितमानस ही मनोहर है, किन्तु इसका सुन्दरकाण्ड अत्यन्त ही मनोहर है। जिस प्रकार महाभारतका विराटपर्व सर्वश्रेष्ठ अंश है, उसी प्रकार श्रीरामचरितमानसमें सुन्दरकाण्ड सर्वश्रेष्ठ अंश है। इसके श्रेष्ठताका कारण बताते हुए कहा गया है - ' सुन्दरे सुन्दरो रामः सुन्दरे सुन्दरी कथा । सुन्दरे सुन्दरी सीता सुन्दरे किन्न सुन्दरम् ॥' अर्थात् सुन्दरकाण्डमें श्रीराम सुन्दर हैं, कथा सुन्दर है, सीता सुन्दर हैं। सुन्दरमें क्या सुन्दर नहीं है। इसके अतिरिक्त इसमें हनुमान्जीका पावन - चरित्र है जो भक्तोंके लिये कल्पवृक्ष है।
एक बात निर्विवाद है कि सुन्दरकाण्डका श्रद्धालुजन अनुष्ठान करते है, जिससे उनकी प्रत्येक मनोकामना पूर्ण होती है। दूसरी बात सुन्दरकाण्डकी कथा, पात्रोंके स्वभाव और आचरण आदिमें आध्यात्मिकता तथा रहस्यात्मकताका मणिकाञ्चन-संयोग दिखायी पड़ता है।
सुन्दरकाण्डकी अनन्त विशेषताओंसे पाठकोंको परिचित करानेके उद्देश्यसे गीताप्रेससे इसके कई संस्करण प्रकाशित किये गये हैं। इस संस्करणमें पाठकोंको अनुष्ठानके रूपमें शुद्ध पाठ करनेकी सुविधा प्रदान करनेकी दृष्टिसे प्रारम्भमें श्रीजानकीनाथजीकी आरती और पारायण - विधि दी गयी हैं, जिससे पाठक आवाहन, न्यास तथा ध्यानके साथ शुद्ध पाठ कर सकें ।
भक्तों की मान्यता है कि सुन्दरकाण्डके पाठकका प्रारम्भ किष्किन्धा- काण्डके दोहा संख्या - २९ से करना चाहिये । अतः सुन्दरकाण्डके पूर्व किष्किन्धाकाण्डका दोहा संख्या २९ दिया गया है। अर्थसहित पाठ करनेकी विशेष महत्ता बतायी गयी है, इसलिये इसमें मूल पाठके साथ अर्थसहित सुन्दरकाण्ड और अन्तमें हनुमानचालीसा, संकटमोचन हनुमानाष्टक, रामायणजीकी आरती, हनुमान्जीकी आरती एवं श्रीरामस्तुति दी गयी है ।
